Without falling into an academic symbolism, the painter Nequitz inherited a love of both color and form. To speak of her paintings in a purely esthetical way, it would be right to describe the delicacy of the colors, the formal structure of her vision, the appropriate palette used in more diverse representations, the rational way in which the proposed elements are imposed onto the painting, and finally, the extreme and expressive morality that characterizes him. The spiritual element is what characterizes this artist’s paintings.

Nequitz’s paintings are a spiritual element, and therefore primarily artistic - something that goes beyond technique and special effects. To outline Nequitz’s work, it is necessary to focus on her sensitivity, which is intimately linked to fantasy and which leads her concrete and real visions to take on a subjective interpretation which provides effective motives of lyrical evocation. The poetry, melancholy and especially the romanticism of Nequitz’s visions embody not just an artistic element, but more importantly a human one which touches even the most hurried and least attentive spectators.

The artist approaches and compels others approach a more simple and modest reality due to the fact that Nequitz is able to readdress these with the participation of a high level of lyrical sentiments. Through ambiguity, Nequitz’s realism is capable of achieving multiple sentimental interpretations in virtue of a happy psychological inflection of her visions.

Through her work,Nequitz seeks out the same path to creation as a plastic artist. Her mission is to create a language that can express her visions, dreams and reveal her inner most feelings. Her transparency is a sign of her personality and her intuitiveness is dream-like, just as her figures represent her rational and discursive side, describing facts and images lived by Nequitz herself. The beauty and the extremely good taste of her work sparks the attention of all art lovers; the heightened colors, which purposely shine through a neutral foundation without any chromatic interference, depict the contagious happiness which exists in all our hearts. Of the 37 artists chosen to participate in the 2008 Rome International Bienniel, 5 of the artists, whose work can be found in the collection at the Parlimennt Museum of Art in São Paulo, were awarded at the event in Rome. The prizes were awarded this Monday by Mrs Lívia Bucci, representative of the Rome International Bienniel in Brazil in the halls of Castelo de Sant’ Ângelo in the capital of Rome.
The prize winners were as follows:1st place – Concetta Espósito;
2nd place – Rodrigues Coelho;
3rd place – Sueli Dabus;
4th place – Suzana Garcia;
5th place – Nequitz Miguel.It is worth noting that at the end of this year, an exhibition with the works of the ten international artists who were awarded at the Rome International Bienniel will be displayed at the V Centenary Cultural Space at the 9th July Palace. This particular exchange is the result of correspondence between Professor Giuseppe Chiovaro, President of the Bienniel, and Deputy Vaz de Lima, President of the São Paulo legislative.
Chiovaro described in his speech, during the prize giving, the importance of the Brazilian participation. He also explained how he himself accompanies the various cultural manifestations initiated on the creation of the São Paulo Parliment Art Gallery with avid interest. Chiovaro also considers this gallery as one of the only of its kind in the world. The participation of Brazilian artists included the following: Arlete Coleto, Cássia Soares, Cecília Braun, Célia Rachel, Cida Vale, Concetta Espósito, Eliana Terra, Helena Kazue Nakai, La Greca, Loiva Biff, Marcos Irine, Matilde Toledo, Neiva Passuelo, Nequitz Miguel, Neura Costa, Raphael Murió, Rodrigues Coelho, Silvana Panela, Suzana Garcia, Vagner Aniceto and Vera Bonatti; The sculptors Belmiro Baio, Deise Mazziotti, Margarida Barroso, Marilda Dib, Rosina D’Angina, Sara Nach and Vera Lavor; and for the first time the photographers Ana Lúcia Mariz, Cláudio Elizabetsky, Fernando Bueno, Johnny, Klaus Mitteldorf, Manuk Poladian, Marcio Scavone, Sergio Valle Duarte and Willy Biondani.

Concetta Espósito

The human figure takes on a particularly revealing identity in the form of a portrait with precise features and an authentic face which has in itself become a technical achievement in space, volume and almost sculpture-like areas of three dimensional form.


Rodrigues Coelho

Nequitz’s material experiences multiply themselves: she uses diluted color and displays them in ample transparent extensions to then be able to work over the actual matter. Through her work, Nequitz provides the figures with a trans-figurative facet in which both the abstract and figurative elements marry in a sublime and ethereal way.

Sueli Dabus

The main theme of Nequitz’s pictures, generally consisting of flowers, usually appears blurred by color and distinction. The subjects that Sueli Dabus depicts are inspired by nature and an idealized and surreal world.

Suzana Garcia

Nequitz’s aim is to maintain a direct and active relationship with the spectator. Her carved drawings cut out the contours of the images, furnishing them with an indecisive structure. However, her paintings although very monochromatic, follow an expressionistic slant with the eloquent structure expressing a metaphor of sentiments.

Nequitz Miguel
Nequitz’s pictorial language fascinates through the use of color, scale and effective communication skills. She possesses the ability to elevate her representations beyond the limits of painting and its genre and capture the input of spiritualism.
